I've added a paragraph to state that we are talking about pen-and-paper
games, not computer based games. Also I note that Roleplaying Game is
spelt in at least 3 different ways - Role-play, role play and roleplay.

One of my friends recently tried to explain the concept of RPGs to another
gamer, who had only ever played computer games. He knew what roleplaying
games were (he'd played games like Baldurs Gate, Neverwinter Nights and
Morrowind), and had heard of Dungeons and Dragons (an old cartoon), but
had somehow never encountered the idea of 'real' roleplaying. He couldn't
understand how you'd play something like D&D without a computer...
