code is required for the freedoms to study/modify a work:

There is (as always) some dispute over this.

I'm also not at all sure about their "consensus" authoring process:

Something is either free in the loosest sense, or it isn't. I'm not sure
if consensus here can achieve anything meaningful other than creating
another clone of the Creative Commons.

Actually, does anyone know if there is any consensus on this: which do
you think is right because I've never had any idea.

Scary. Very scary. Perhaps we need an explanatory text for pen-and-paper
RPGs for the Free RPG Community as well that people can be directed to?
